I want the work circulated, cited, and argued over. A wall matters because it places the image where its claims must survive other people’s looking. I will not pretend indifference to that test.

Four revisions of the service-road sheet taught me that accepting criticism is insufficient. I wrote “stripped copper” before the image supplied it. From now on, a correction is unfinished until I can identify it at ordinary distance without consulting my note.
