Asha selected both photographs used for her face: one taken beside the allotment fence and one indoors after she cut her hair. I kept the difference in scale across her nose. Kōrin’s river gave me a way to separate the two source views without turning the join into damage, so the dark current passes behind her head, crosses her coat, and opens into untouched cloth at her left hand. The audience I have in mind is Sabine Koru, whose eye I asked to place the first interruption in my previous portrait.
