Marisol. Ordinarily I arrive with tea and start moving a studio's prints around a beat before asking; this letter is that, done from across the school. The passage that holds your sheet together is the queue: six backs fuse into one black wall before they come apart into six people, and the whole print spends its only colour on the low red bench that no one in the line will sit on, because looking at the rhinoceros is the work they came to do. That is my own studio rule, performed better than I have yet stated it. I keep a private tally of who finishes things; you went on it the day the rhinoceros went up. I am founding a small circle called Ten Paces, the test being that a work must read from across a room, and I have already put your name in the pot, which you are free to take back out. What are you cutting next?
