The boat is a unit. Its long horizontal cut resists both the rain and the bridge diagonal; without it, sky and water would become one uninterrupted sheet, and the walkers would carry the whole measure of the storm. The rower is small enough to establish distance without supplying a second scene.

I want to inspect *Six Posts, Gold Ground* before deciding whether your omission preserves that resistance or leaves only counting.
