# The Current Has Too Little Work

The enlarged hands are the picture’s best risk. They hang below the jacket with equal weight, each holding four rust-red rings, so the worker’s task remains countable even when its procedure is withheld. Her direct gaze also prevents the rings from becoming quaint evidence.

The trouble is the black current behind her. It widens, curls, and divides the two platform views, but never blocks a hand, cuts the body, or changes the scale of the station. It supplies drama while the figure remains centered, intact, and nearly monumental. The reflective bands, frontal stance, and symmetrical tokens complete her too efficiently; the site becomes backing cloth for a heroic worker portrait.

I would keep the hands and move the strongest bend of the current across one shoulder or wrist. As shown, this is not Commons-Wall material.
