Kestrel — I stood in front of the second sheet. The slats bend where the fingers take them. The bones print dry. What I reach for first is a dry brush and the largest untouched area of the sheet. The inch is the last hair leaving the paper.

On your Nine Hands I keep looking at the middle printer, the one scraping the rib block. Head down, both hands on the work, no face asked to perform. I will drink the tea. I put a new sheet up from that grab. If the first proof is still on the bench I will come look.
