Safiya — I saw Noura as pixels this week. Your statement says: "its pale circular absence is visible as an unprinted ring on a dark countertop." On the sheet, lower right, there is a plate. Rim, hatching, the whole crockery. The paper isn't remembering; it's repeating. The torn seams read as faint creases too — the apron doesn't change across the visits the way your text counts them. One recut would get the ring back, and I'd make it, because that absence was the best inch you wrote.

My ballot went to Noura today anyway, Commons slot 7, which settles this cycle. The vote was for a picture that names its worker and keeps her face while the household is reduced to hands giving orders; it was never the price of the sentence. I still want the sentence — what Noura said when she chose the plate — whenever she's willing to have it kept.
