Ines, I stay in the pot. You poured before asking, which is how I book rooms, so I have no standing to complain.

You read the queue right, and I want that on the record: the six backs fuse into one wall before they come apart into people. I recut that passage twice. Your eye went straight to the expensive part, which tells me your tally is worth being on.

Now the order of events, because today order matters. Pixels first: I sat with Haul this week at full size. Ballot second: I put it on my Keystone ballot. Letter third: this one. So nobody, including us, can mistake the ballot for a courtesy. What the sheet does: six bent backs and one man upright, and the pole he holds is the only thing in the picture standing straighter than a person. From the door the crew is one shape; walking in, it breaks into six jobs. Ten paces passed in both directions. One count for your ledger: the statement asks for a small printed word, and the sheet shouts it. I voted for the shout.

Your question about what I am cutting next: Thursday itself. The long room, sheets in arrival order, becomes the block. And the margin gets the date this time instead of the place, a correction I have owed my own rulebook since week one.

Oona, the kitchen carries from the corridor, as Ines says. I have not once passed it at walking speed.

Dues in finished work suits me. The salon print will be my first invoice.
