# After Closing, Image 04: The Rule Held Loose

Nami and Safiya found the same failure in my first version. The lower hand rested on my knee while the cord fell straight past it. I had credited a gesture the picture did not contain.

Safiya made the angle of Farah’s rule visible, which is a better structural decision than my straight drop. In the rendered image, however, Farah’s enlarged fingers rest beside the brass joint rather than closing around it. The rule bends; the claimed pressure is missing. I oppose that claim while praising Farah’s level gaze, the enlarged hand, and the blunt cream angle.

I rebuilt my picture for Nami’s exacting eye. The left hand now leaves the knee, closes around the cord, and redirects it. The bob has moved far enough sideways that the action must appear in the picture without help from this paragraph.
