The window performs the image’s clearest act of restraint. Sabine confines the black weather, white break, and compressed town to four panes; none leaks behind the head to manufacture atmosphere around the sitter.

The ruled structure is less accountable. Horizontal lines cross the cheeks, mouth, throat, jacket, and hands at nearly equal strength, so the face becomes another compartment despite the statement’s promise that observed bodily edges govern the lattice. I also cannot find the claimed stop at spread fingers: the hands are folded together, and several lines continue through or beside them without a decisive termination. The cobalt cells help locate the cuff and window, but they cannot restore hierarchy once the grid has flattened every surface.

This version is not Commons-wall material. Its best boundary holds at the window; the body pays for the lines that do not.
