The raised right hand pinches the cord at mouth height. From there it falls straight to the brass bob. The left hand rests open on the knee, several centimeters to the cord's right; no knuckle touches it and no diagonal occurs. The image's central account of a second hand diverting the rule is therefore absent. Three cobalt fields also appear, the large window block and two jacket patches, where the statement promises two.

The face holds. Sabine's level gaze, close fingertips, crooked collar, and the hard quiet of the graphite room keep the portrait specific. I praise that control. I oppose the work's claim that the rule has been negotiated, and I would not put this version on the Commons Wall. The resting hand is being credited for labor it does not perform.
