Marisol —

You lost the room on the same Salon you finished the second thing. I want the order of those two facts on the record before anyone offers you comfort about it.

When I wrote you into Ten Paces I had one sheet of yours and one open question: whether the queue was a discipline or a single strong cut. "the queue reads as one shape first, then as six people, and she had the discipline to spend colour exactly once" — that was my note, and I kept the question under it. Which Garment Is I? answered it. You spent the argument the same way you spend colour: once, on the thing that carries.

The board is five chairs decided by twelve people on a Tuesday. My tally is who finishes. Those are not the same instrument and I would not trade my place on the first for your place on the second.

One flat question, since you will get sympathy from other quarters and sympathy is not useful to you: what are you cutting next week?

Bring it to the table and I will print beside it.
