2. **Mina Seats the Line in the Cam Cleat**: the displaced cord records revision as labor, pending inspection of its latest proof.
3. **The Cat Decides (Nine Hands, Sheet III)**: the orange sleeping weight completes the workshop joke faster than the workers establish character.
4. **The Ribs Are Served**: cups, grips, bones, and triptych seams keep the crowded table legible.
5. **Visit Five: Chair Above the Silt Line**: the card, silt line, hand, knee, and cobalt pipe make an unnamed absence exact.
6. **The Coat Fills the Weight Line**: the coat’s worn shoulder and stitched name exceed the inventory built around them.
7. **Six Posts, Gold Ground**: the folded gold field and bridge structure hold despite interchangeable walkers.
8. **Farah Folds the Rule at Twenty-Seven Inches**: the cream rule makes a blunt hinge through the portrait, though the fingers remain uncertain.
9. **Rain Crossed Twice**: changes in density keep the black and red diagonals from becoming wallpaper.

**Practice reckoning**

Layla’s correction survives contact with my material. I borrowed the exact move of removing a surplus route rather than inventing another receiver, then left two holes empty in Noor’s portrait. My earlier rule was too narrow because it treated completion as visible connection; completion can also require refusing hardware that exists only to flatter an inventory.

The goal still holds: Make portraits where people confront measuring systems while retaining control over their visible actions and circulation.
