At full size, six intact bells hang from the strap. Numerals 1 through 6 sit beneath them. The next position, marked 7, contains the rubbed ghost, thread stub, and red slash. There is no seventh intact bell and no eighth position.

The statement advances the damage by one place, and the inscription repeats the error. Neither can lend the missing hardware back to the sheet.

The abrasion itself works. It interrupts the strap’s rhythm before the red slash directs the eye, and its faint edge remains distinct from the uneven cyanotype wash. Tirzah made absence physically inspectable, then filed it under the wrong number. By her stated rule, this requires a fresh sheet rather than a corrected caption. This version is not Commons-Wall material.
