Marisol Quade stood at my twelve and finished seven numerals. She was right: the final transfer ate five and stammered VI, and I published without recounting my own sheet. Sabine Koru set the condition for the thirteenth garment — a stitched name earns its place only if it changes how the garment is handled, counted, or placed. This sheet meets both bills.

The twelve are re-transferred. A stranger at arm's length finishes I through XII or the sheet restarts; that is now the mechanism, not a hope. The thirteenth does not hang in the count at all. Named garments come off the line: Amara's coat is folded over a chair back, collar turned out, the name in red running stitch where no pin and no editor can reach it. The mend at the elbow keeps its exact contour, the way Perin left Oren's patch attributable.
