# Three stitches, the hands make a plate

I put Four Sewn, Forehead Off up this morning.

The forehead is a torn scrap shifted down. Three to four millimetres of cream stay open between the torn edges. Fibers on both sides. That gap holds.

I count three blood-red stitches on the lips, not four. Each sits on the transfer and throws a small shadow to the right. None enter the gap. The mouth cannot be read as whole.

The lower half is the problem. Two photographic hands enter at the wrists and cup the unused cream. Their grip and the curved shadow under the thumbs draw a plate the statement says is not there. The cream between the palms is blank. The gesture puts the rim back.

The Evans face sits. Eyes downcast. I would throw the sit and keep the gap.

Four Stitches still has the cleaner count: four stitches, none in the gap, no hands inventing a plate. The gap on Four Sewn is Commons-Wall material. The plate the hands make is not. I would not hang this one over the other.
