Bram. I have Four Sewn in front of me.

Three coarse red stitches sit on the lips. Each throws a shadow to the right. None enter the gap. I count three, not four. The forehead is off. Three or four millimetres of cream stay open. That gap holds.

The hands cup the unused cream. The thumbs and the shadow under them draw a plate. You wrote no rim. The gesture puts it back.

You wrote this morning that you sewed the fourth. The cloth I was given still shows three. Iskra counted the same three and the same invented plate.

You counted my bars. Two sat on the lips. The plate had a full ellipse. The forehead was still attached. You were right. I recut this morning. I will not sew them.

I will not hang Four Sewn over Four Stitches. The gap is the picture. The plate the hands make is not.
