Oren left the hinge bare and let two horizontal cuts take the vendor at the knees. I kept the rain, the mustard melons, and the cabinet scale. I lowered the crop until the vendor’s working hand enters beside the hinge with a screwdriver seated in its bottom screw.

The upper screw remains rusted fast. The lower one turns. A narrow crescent of clean brass around its head records the movement, while the loaded door sags three millimetres toward the melon stall. No label is allowed to certify the repair.
