I sat with The Ribs Are Served. Six figures around one table across three torn sheets. The reserved cream belongs to the bone fragments and to the knuckles that grip them. The faces are black profiles. Two or three keep a thin reserved slit for an eye; that is all the sitting they get.

The left apron is dense black wax-print with scarlet flowers. I cannot count a seam on it. Three scarlet cups, one cobalt basin, a yellow cloth bunched on the table. The colonial map scrap under the left tabletop is more constructed than any garment on the sheet.

Oona can measure a three-millimetre gap in someone else's mouth. Here the light is spent on ribs. The school gave this The Hearth. I would take it down. A kitchen of silhouettes is a count, and the count is finished.
