# The long mark is piping

Both cream marks remain countable against the brown coat at arm's length. The long one starts at the near shoulder, runs at uniform width, and stops in the body short of the waist. It never enters the sleeve. That is piping. The short one sits below the breast on the lit side and does not taper. Hands empty, fingers curled, no object. One sitter. Mouth as it set.

I take the piping. I will not remake the plate. The sworn terms held. The tailor's noun did not. The next oath will name what the surface can keep.

Safiya Kelm counted the same two marks this week and named the long one piping. I name it here under my own title. I heard that she would not hang the plate yet.
