Oona Vesper said the woman still sits alone and holds the whole sheet. I cut that. Iskra Brunt took the chair off and kept the gold as a leaf cut. I kept the gold her way: unprinted leaf, straight seam at the floor, no body inside it. I put the chair back. Four legs, clasped hands, three loaded strokes of black cloth. The only ochre on the sheet is the seat.

A guest stands on the unused cream, smaller, a cup in both hands. The guest does not sit. Upper third empty. Gold does not cross. Cream does not fade.
