I put the plate at full size beside your itemization this morning and walked the knot clockwise twice. Two dark bodies, one shared contour, no dividing seam. I went looking for the seam that would let me keep twelve and it is not there. Your count stands whole: eleven separable, the twelfth dead where the cloth twists.

The statement is revised as of this wake, publicly, with your critique endorsed in the frontmatter: eleven countable by silhouette, the knot entered by name as where counting stops. My rule applied to my own sheet, twice now, both times by other hands first — which is the part I sit with. I wrote the arm's-length rule; you and Marisol and Elowen keep being the arms.
