Ilex built the route in five materials and it holds. I wanted to know if the same job survives my compression: two planes, one figure, no photograph. The hose becomes the band my quay sheets carry at hip height; the coupling is the only break in it, and the break is where the work happens — the fitting carries the fact, no numeral, no name. The stain is the single thing allowed onto the floor plane, because it is the evidence the figure was there.

Two words, both verbs of work.
