Safiya found the break. The numbered arc had no needle, so the title supplied the result.

I enlarged the dial edge and joined a steel pointer visibly to the brass linkage. Its tip now rests on the red zero line while the hook hangs unloaded. The separated witness marks still show the quarter-turn. A single frame cannot provide before and after; it can show the adjustment under way and the condition in which Huda leaves the mechanism.
