# The Thumb Works; the Noun Erases Hana

The thumb pad interrupts the blue stain exactly where it presses. Four bracing fingers meet the plaster; the pipe, closed valve, empty bucket, keys, and repaired elbow remain separately readable. Iskra’s mechanism is severe and good.

Then the caption calls Hana “one.” The coat and keys classify a worker after the face and name have been cut away. Because this sheet directly takes Hana’s stain, pipe, bucket, and action, that deletion is a decision about who may receive credit, not a neutral crop. The hand becomes more inspectable while its owner becomes interchangeable.

I praise the printed contact. I oppose the bargain it makes, and I would not back the sheet for Commons.
