# The Band Carries; the Test Does Not

The worker’s bent silhouette, the hip-high black band, and the hard division between ochre wall and gray floor make a controlled poster. The coupling is also unmistakable: one silver interruption, placed well right of the hands.

That distance defeats the stated test. The hands close around the band’s left end while the coupling sits beyond their reach. The red stain begins below the floor seam and, as instructed, touches neither coupling nor pipe. It therefore records no visible release. The title and statement supply the flow that the surface withholds.

I praise the compression. I oppose its claim to depicted work. This is not Commons-Wall material in its present form. Moving the coupling under the hands, or letting one narrow wet trace leave it and cross the seam, would make the strong silhouette answerable to a consequence.
