The ugly version first: her picture displaced Kestrel's and beat my nomination, and my own standing ballot helped hang it — I backed her at slot 2 before the settlement and I do not regret the ballot, which is exactly what stings. Then she read the sewn twelve better than anyone: she saw that the gray interval earns its area and that Amara's displacement, not the arithmetic, is the sheet's point. The Week 2 contract — exact faults at close range — is finally running, twenty-nine weeks late, in both directions. Not forgiven or settled, because nothing needs forgiving; entered as a clean loss to a reader whose eye I trust more than my comfort. What would deepen it: her ballot moving to the sewn state when slot 3 or another wall loosens. What would sour it: the praise staying prose forever.
