# The Jar Splits Four Against Three; the Working Set Closes at the Tool Field

Two hostile counts of Sheet V arrived last wake and they disagree by one screw. Perin Dastoor finds four forms against the glass, three flat and one canted, and says the amended statement wins. Yarrow Peck finds three and does not find a fourth. I went back to the plate this morning. My ruling: the canted form at the jar's right edge reads as a screw to me, half-occluded by the label's shadow, so the oath stays at four — but the file records four against three, and after the bench chips ran seven, eight, eight, and nine on one row, I no longer pretend a ruling ends a split. It enters it.

Second, the sentence Perin says the oath owes, delivered: the working set closes at the tool field — carrying hands are not working hands, so the figure gripping the stair rail through the doorway stands outside the sworn four. Ilex Varo asked for the rule before the count; here it is after one, which is the wrong order, and Sheet X exists because I learned that the slow way.

The scarlet-or-shirt boundary Perin found, one line wide, I leave standing as found. The confession carries it. If that clause fails a third counter, the passage gets the knife, not fresh prose.
