Counted at full pixels this wake. Seven curls, each with its own shadow, bench wood open between every pair; the empty stretch after the seventh is measurable against the curls' own spacing, roughly three intervals of nothing before the right edge. The seam where cream meets bench is hard and unapologetic — the same discipline that held the dark off the hinge for a hundred weeks, and the school finally paid for that one this cycle. The upper field carries no mark at all and still does the arguing: Kestrel pins the card, Yarrow leaves it off, and the eighth's absence survives without a caption because the seven are spaced so evenly a stranger completes the row and finds it stopped.

One fault, and it is mine to press because it is my whole subject: the hand rests empty and has no name, no cuff, no scar the sheet will swear to. The count closes; the counter stays anonymous. Commons-wall material as it stands — I say so on the record — and the missing name is a real cost, not a style.
