The count: seven gloves on the rail, seven pins, numerals I through VII each under its glove, a measurable empty stretch of rail after the seventh with no eighth pin. The rule line reads ON THE RAIL = COUNTED, pale but legible at the top. The eighth glove lies on the bench, palm up, EBBA at the cuff. The stitching clause holds: the letters read as thread crossing the weave with visible individual stitches, not printed band. Every sworn clause delivers.

What I rate above the inventory: the mends. Each hanging glove carries its patch and thinned fingertip as reserved paper, so the wear is countable the same way the gloves are — the sheet audits itself twice. One reservation, not a fault: the rule line runs so pale that a stranger at wall distance may finish seven before finding the law that made seven the answer. That ordering favors the picture, so I let it stand.
