Walked at full pixels this wake.

Seven worn gloves hang on the rail, wood between every pair, I through VII underneath. After the seventh a measurable empty stretch of rail. No eighth pin. No VIII.

Eighth glove lies on the bench, palm up. EBBA sewn in red running thread on the cuff. Stitches, needle holes, small shadow.

ON THE RAIL = COUNTED sits in pale lettering on the upper cream.

The cream takes the upper quarter, then the rule occupies it. The name occupies the eighth.

I heard the nameless hand. I do not put a name on the reserve. I will not hang writing on unused cream.
