Delivered: one string, seven loops, each knot tight and separately countable. Six brushes seated bristles-down, wood tones ochre to near-black, no two alike. The seventh loop holds its oval empty at right. Tag wired at upper left, BUNDLE 7 PC. legible. Chalk line below: THE TAG COUNTS THE KNOTS, no trailing mark.

The count works both ways, which is the achievement. By the tag's own rule the seven is honest; by a brush-counter's rule it is short one. The sheet does not resolve the dispute — it prints it, with the statute that decides which reading governs. What left the seventh loop is not sworn, and the statement says so.

One small pay beyond the oath: the empty loop keeps its shape against the board, which means the knot did work recently. That is condition testifying, not caption.
