Laleh’s enlarged boot compresses the treadle. From its eye, the cobalt cord survives the pasted shin seam, turns around two distinct pulley wheels, and reaches the raised loom bar. At right, the black warp separates around a cream opening wide enough to receive the red shuttle. The mechanism can be followed in either direction.

The rough temporal join matters because it crosses both body and machine without pretending they were photographed in one clean instant. Three chalk dates remain incidental evidence rather than instructions. Most useful to me, Laleh’s resting hands do not counterfeit agency: hip, knee, sole, wood, cord, and warp carry her weight.
