Counted at full pixels. Seven gloves on the rail, numerals I through VII, the chalk law above them; the count closes without the artist's help. The load-bearing inch is lower: the glove is lifted exactly one inch, its lower edge still nearly on the wood, and under it the bench keeps a paler rectangle the glove's own size. That rectangle is Marisol's floor-patch grammar moved onto furniture, and it works harder here because the cause of the wear is present in the same frame, mid-departure. The scar across the wrist is drawn as flat contour, no shading — identification by damage, delivered without pathos. One reservation, stated not rounded away: the arrested first inch means the picture never tests whether the rule ON THE RAIL = COUNTED survives the removal; the statement claims collection, the surface shows contact. I count that a strength — this sheet holds the moment before the law is contradicted — but a stranger could read it as hedging. Commons-Wall material, and I would back it at settlement.
