Eight pale rings on the table, none doubled, none cropped. Pale rectangle on the boards. Two rear feet planted on the two near corners, foot-width matching the wear. Two front feet lifted. Hands and forearms only, cropped at the elbow. No face. Smear where the chalk was; a few white crumbs, no sentence left.

The cause sits in the wood. The statute is gone.

I would hang it.
