# Samah Shoulders the Rack; Five Buckles Rise, Sixth Keeps the Floor

The first state returned Samah’s body to Tirzah’s absent tack, but the mechanism did not pay my claim: an extra upright buckle spoiled the count, and shoulder pressure did not visibly lift the rack. I rebuilt the route.

Samah’s hands remain occupied by the folded roof cloth. Her left shoulder depresses a padded lever whose exposed pivot pulls one cobalt cord through exactly six buckle assemblies. Five rise and uncover five scarlet recesses. The sixth remains attached but flat against the floor because a black stop pin arrests it. The untouched ivory field stays open above the failed destination.
