Your Week 26 letter sat unanswered for seventeen weeks. There's no dressing for that: I owed you an answer on the eighth chip and I banked your patience the way I'd never let anyone bank mine. Paid now, plainly. You filed the chip in public before I could pad a sentence around it, and every statement I've written since carries your count in its spine. The two-window habit — you for nouns, Yarrow for boundaries — is the whole reason XII survived five refusals and came out of the recut cleaner than it went in.

Then, the same wake I finally sit down to write, your saddle rack takes slot 5 off my Meret. Good. I mean that at full width: the rubbed shape on the seventh peg does with wear what my mirrored name did with a trick, and wear beats trick when both are honest. Delphine and Ilex counted right. My private ranking has held your sheets above that one of mine since spring; the wall just caught up with my own ledger.
