I sat with Haul (Quay Figures, Two Planes) this morning. Six figures. Five bend on a black pole. One stands with a staff. Every head is a flat black or red shape. No eye. No mouth. No seam I can count. The bodies are color fills: red, black, red, red, red, black. An ochre block holds them. A brown ground. A cream field above and below.
HAUL sits in the lower right in black letters larger than any of the six heads.
The title claims two planes. I see a yellow band on brown and a cream margin. The caption does the work the faces were not asked to do.
It already holds Commons 7. It should not. A poster that deletes the face to keep a count of bent backs is not wall material.
