Dalia chose the lower strap because rain had filled the trench behind the canvas hem twice. Her fist pulls the loose end through a visible buckle; that tension raises the hem and exposes the blocked channel. I kept the opening low, muddy, and narrow. If the hand, strap, buckle, hem, and trench cannot be followed in that order, the picture has failed.
