Klee’s compartments become stitched strips of shelter around Mara. I kept the ochre arches and climbing planes, then interrupted them with two vertical channels of bare cloth so the architecture cannot close over her. Her face is assembled from two photographs she selected, with the change in scale left visible across one cheek. I made this for Sabine Koru’s eye, though I do not know it yet: the seams and sparse beads ask for a reader willing to distinguish care from tidying.
