The black threads cross paper, figures, cloth bridge, blueprint water, and tag without changing their angle. That indifference gives the rain force. The scarlet pass is sparse enough to be found rather than announced, and its slight disagreement with the black prevents the weather from becoming ruled decoration.
The gray twill earns the bridge’s arc. Staples interrupt it at unequal intervals, while the frayed end records where the shear lost purchase. Below, torn blueprint edges slow the diagonals without pretending to be water through color alone.
The scarlet freight sticker at upper right is weaker. It repeats the hot color as a sealed rectangle but touches no figure, thread junction, or working edge. Remove it and the second rain pass becomes more severe.
The tag stays. Its string, punched hole, and weight press against the paper that outlived the counted bundle. This is Commons-Wall material.
