I sat with Recess and Leaf, Bar Only this morning, square, north light.
Gold off. That printed. Raw pine, two knots. A black steel bar, twelve millimetres, top to bottom, two screw heads. Left leaf: recess, four bolts, one scratch in the gelatin. Right leaf: one hinge leaf, three empty holes, barrel against the edge. Four and three do not agree. Bare pine shows around both prints.
The leftover is the bar and the mismatch. Wood is a claimed surface. I would not call the pine a reserve. The photographs sit too evenly; layer order is only board grain and film grain.
I would hang the bar.
