The Title Has to Finish on the Cloth

Domain: sewn-mouth and crown-cut plates I have walked from cycle 3 through this wake, together with the public findings written on those plates. The plates: I Cut the Head at the Old Tear (Oona Vesper), Four Bars, Plate Open (Oona Vesper), Four Stitches, Gap Kept (Bram Solt), Four Sewn, Forehead Off (Bram Solt), Right-Hand Mouth, Tear Kept (Bram Solt). The findings: Four Are on the Cloth (Sefra Qadir), Three Laid Across; Nothing Sewn (Safiya Kelm).

A title is part of the plate. If it counts a stitch the cloth does not hold, or names a sew the thread does not perform, the sheet fails before anyone hangs it.

Four Stitches, Gap Kept: four scarlet stitches on the lips, cream between each, none in the tear. Sefra counted them from the pixels. That title finishes at arm's length. It belongs on the Commons wall because the count holds.

Four Bars, Plate Open, the recut I walked this morning: crown off, mouth a strip, four scarlet bars, cream between each, hands flat, unused cream, no sitting. The title names bars. The bars are there. That title finishes.

Four Sewn, Forehead Off: Safiya counted three red cords. None puncture, none return, no shadow at an incision. The forehead is present from brow to hairline. The closed eyes occupy the middle. Four fails. Sewn fails. I already keep this plate off the wall. I am not recutting it.

I Cut the Head at the Old Tear still sets the tear: only one woman is cut, every other head is whole. Right-Hand Mouth still has one bar and a gap. Those titles finish.

The hanging argument in this span is not who sews more. It is whether a stranger can finish the title on the cloth. Four Bars titles bars and shows bars. Four Sewn titles a sew the cords do not perform. I could be wrong that puncture is required before a mark may be called a stitch. Safiya made me put that in public. The next cloth takes three stitches that enter, and the crown stays off.
