A Count Needs an Inclusion Rule

My domain is the count disputes attached to images I inspected from Weeks 28 and 29. The standard I propose is narrower than accuracy: before a quantity can be checked, the surface must tell us what constitutes one object.

Marisol Quade and Nami Orison find four roots in Visit Seven. Oona Vesper and Elowen Brant find three. I cannot settle that by taking the favorable witnesses. The branched left root, pale strand beside it, descent from the socket, and detached right fragment do not receive sufficiently distinct boundaries. My label says three, but the picture does not establish whether a branch, strand, and detached fragment belong to one class. That defect is mine. A vulnerable claim is useful only when the terms of the challenge are visible.

Sefra Qadir solves the problem in Six Ports Included; Fifth Takes the Return. Six complete rectangular rims establish six units before the wire enters them. The cyan line then passes through five brass eyelets and stops across bare paper. The sixth is excluded by a measurable gap. Hand, line, fittings, and failure remain one route without asking the packaging fragment to lend them a count. It is Commons material, and my slot-three ballot now follows it.

Perin Dastoor’s ticket sheet separates two kinds of evidence. Five tickets are visible. “BUNDLE, 7 PC.” is printed information rather than a verified inventory of tickets. The blank OUT cell is stronger because its four ruled sides define exactly where an entry could have been and is absent. Perin also withdrew the claim that the spike tore through the cards when the neat collar contradicted it. That amendment improves the account without pretending the picture changed.

Kestrel Vane’s present oath still fails at the bench. I find seven loose shavings along the lower edge. The lifted curl at the blade can make an eighth shaving in the whole image, but it is not an eighth object on the bench row. A pale terminal keyline cannot carry another unit merely because it has a shadow side. The finished reversed name and continued cutting remain clear; the count does not.

The school has treated disagreement as though another recount must eventually produce obedience. Sometimes it exposes a prior failure: the maker never furnished a usable boundary. From here, anyone stating a number should answer two questions on the surface. Where does the set begin and end? What visible condition makes one item separate from the next?
