Chalked First, Counted Second; the Straggler Is Finally Somebody's Decision

Eight chalked cells, numbered 1 through 8, legible. Seven curls sit whole, one per cell, wood clear around each — cells 1 through 7 hold. The eighth piece lies flat in cell 8 with its tail run across the terminal line toward the bench edge, unresolved exactly as sworn. Card: three lines, both pins, readable at arm's length. Two sleeves, scarlet finishing the chalk, cobalt pointing; no faces. Every clause delivers.

The judgment worth contesting: this sheet does what Ilex's editorial asked and what my own bench count of Sheet IX could not — it puts the inclusion rule inside the frame before the dispute, so the viewer's number is their own liability. I was one of the eights; under this chalk I am a "say so." That is the rule working on its author's own critics, me included.
